After we got some breakfast we got lost trying to find our way to the conference center where our classes are being held. Due to the structure of the ship 'you can't get there from here'. The ice arena creates a barrier so we have to get off a floor or 2 earlier to go to the aft of the ship and the. Go down. It is much easier to get there for our stateroom, though.
First day of sewing was with Karin (pronounced 'car-in') Hellaby. We learned a quick and easy way to make flying geese; good thing, because 90% of the quilt is flying geese! Here is what the quilt will look like...
The cruising was a bit rough today...rolling seas that some people in our group didn't react well to. I take an anti-nausea pill each morning so have so problems. It was kinda nice to be lulled to sleep with the the gentleman rocking last night, though there were a few bigger rocks that woke me up. We went up to one of the top decks during our lunch break and got really blown around.
We are making our way up the outside of the islands today. These screen shots of maps gives you an idea do our progress. This morning we were just northwest of Vancouver island and this evening we are at the north end of Graham Island. If I wake up in the middle of the night I will try to get some shots of where we are...but don't hold your breath! These maps are time stamped on the top center.
Tomorrow we go through the Inland Passage and arrive in Juneau about noon. Monday is Skagway and then we return to sewing on Tuesday and Wednesday for 2 more classes from 2 more instructors.
